PolicyLab Ready for 2014 Pediatric Academic Societies Conference - May 2-6

May 3rd to 6th marks the annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies in Vancouver.  The event is hosted by the American Pediatric Society, the Society for Pediatric Research, the Academic Pediatric Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.  Over the course of four days, pediatric researchers from around the country, as well as from across the world, will gather to share their findings.

This year, several teams from PolicyLab, as well as our sister center, Clinical Futures, will be presenting during the annual meeting.  PolicyLab’s Joanne Wood will be presenting her research on Trends in Abusive Head Trauma Rates and Economic Stress Indicators.  Evan Fieldston will be presenting on Variation in Hospitalization Costs for Common Pediatric Conditions. See this schedule for a full list of the PolicyLab and CPCE presentations at PAS.

Notably, a leadership team from PolicyLab will be leading a three-hour workshop on the PolicyLab approach to research.  The presentation – Research to Impact: Strategies for Achieving Evidence-Based Health Policy– will be led by James Guevara, Alex Fiks, Manuel Jimenez, Kristen Feemster, and PolicyLab Co-Directors David Rubin and Kathleen Noonan.  During the workshop, attendees will be guided through how to strategically think about framing research so that it will have the highest likelihood for policy impact. Attendees will walk away with tangible new skills, including how to:

  • Identify policy-relevant context and target audiences for research projects
  • Create concise policy-relevant messages about research projects
  • Develop appropriate outreach and dissemination strategies for maximizing policy impact

See this flyer with details about the workshop.
