Katherine Kellom

Qualitative Methods Program Manager

Katherine Kellom is the qualitative methods program manager at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She has worked on a wide range of qualitative, mixed and multi method research since 2010. Ms. Kellom has managed numerous research projects from start to finish by contributing to study design, steering collaborative relationships, leading project progress and developing dissemination materials to maximize project impact. She has also worked on a number of large-scale, multi-site evaluations, including the state-wide, mixed-methods evaluation of home visiting program expansion under Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) funding on child and maternal health outcomes.

Ms. Kellom also manages the Qualitative Methods Research Affinity Group with Dr. Cynthia Mollen, facilitating networking and skill-building across the CHOP Research Institute and other local institutions. As part of her role, Ms. Kellom offers qualitative support office hours and consultation to research teams across CHOP’s Research Institute on topics ranging from developing databases to manage qualitative data collection, coding and analysis; training study personnel to ensure quality data collection and interpretation; engaging research participants that enables discussion of sensitive information and personal experiences; and successfully facilitating focus groups with key stakeholders by thoughtfully directing conversation to inform research goals. Additionally, Ms. Kellom is an expert and trainer in NVivo software. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bryn Mawr College in 2009.
