Emily Rider-Longmaid MD, MBE

Affiliate Trainee

Emily Rider-Longmaid (she/her) is an affiliate trainee at PolicyLab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a fellow physician within the Craig-Dalsimer Division of Adolescent Medicine at CHOP. 

Dr. Rider-Longmaid is interested in the intersection of bioethics and adolescent health and the ways in which our understanding of adolescent autonomy impacts access to health care. Her current research focuses on the moral distress of trainees practicing gender-affirming care in legally restrictive areas. She is also working on ways to increase screening and intervention around substance use in adolescents and expanding access to treatment for these patients.  

Dr. Rider-Longmaid graduated from Smith College with degrees in chemistry and the study of women & gender. She received her medical degree and a master's degree in bioethics from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, she completed her Internal Medicine-Primary Care residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus on Global Health.
