Dori Abel MD

Affiliate Trainee

Dori Abel (she/her) is an affiliate trainee at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a fellow physician in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at CHOP. She is planning to pursue a Master of Science in Health Policy with a concentration in Healthcare Quality and Safety at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Abel has a strong interest in health equity, medication adherence and outcomes for patients with chronic rheumatic disease. She aims to explore the impact of social determinants of health on disease to identify drivers of outcome disparities in rheumatology. She hopes to couple this with quality improvement work to improve adherence and address these disparities.

Dr. Abel graduated magna cum laude from Duke University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in an individualized major entitled “A Gendered Examination of Global Health Inequalities.” She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2018, where she graduated cum laude as a Health Justice Scholar. She completed her pediatrics residency in 2021 at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University.
