PolicyLab at the 2017 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting
The Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) meeting is the premiere annual conference for children’s health research. Each year, several PolicyLab investigators attend to share their latest projects with colleagues from around the country and the globe. It’s not only a chance for us to give updates on our research, but to engage in discussions around how that research can impact policy and practice to ultimately improve the health of the children we care for.
We’ll be heading to San Francisco this year (May 6-9), so in advance, I asked a few of our participating researchers about what going to PAS means to them.
At PAS I learn about…
Dr. Marsha Gerdes: What other researchers from across the country are doing. Hearing how others have tackled shared needs in their communities always sparks new ideas for me.
What are you looking forward to the most at this year’s conference?
Dr. Alex Fiks: Brainstorming new research ideas in-person with colleagues around the country that can become future grants and projects.
Dr. James Guevara: I look forward to attending PAS to see old friends, make new friends, and network with colleagues and fellow researchers.
Why do you choose or prioritize PAS over other conferences? What’s unique about PAS?
Dr. Stephanie Doupnik: Primarily to maintain relationships with colleagues whom I’ve known since medical school or residency. It’s a great opportunity to see one another in person once a year, catch up on everyone’s progress and career, and expand my network of people to call on for professional collaborations or open doors.
Dr. Brian Jenssen: It's a unique gathering of pediatric research, advocacy and policy experts, dedicated to improving pediatric health both in the U.S. and internationally.
