Announcing PolicyLab’s Outstanding Youth Award Winners
PolicyLab is excited to announce the three individuals who will receive Outstanding Youth Awards at PolicyLab Forum 2022! PolicyLab’s Outstanding Youth Awards recognize exceptional children and teens in the Philadelphia region who contribute to improving the health and well-being of their peers and community through engagement in community-serving initiatives, research and/or policy. These individuals are leaders within their communities, advocating for all youth and inspiring those around them.
The winners are:
Alis: Serves as the Survivor Consultant for the Adolescent Protection Collaborative (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s [CHOP] specialized medical home for sex-trafficked youth)
- In addition to supporting youth involved in the clinic and providing consultation on the clinic model, Alis serves on the city-wide Philadelphia Juvenile Anti-Trafficking Coalition.
Phillip: Serves as the Junior Coach Intern in the Netter Center’s Cross-Grade Sports Leaders of Change Program
- Phillip and his peers deliver sports programming to K-8 students attending the Netter Center’s camps and is part of the Youth Participatory Action Reach Team on which he works with Penn faculty and undergrads to use communication research to address health issues prioritized by youth.
Rylie: Participated in the “Get Connected” and “Mapping Perceptions of PrEP Use in Trans Women” research studies at CHOP
- Rylie mentors other young transgender women involved in the studies and collaborated with PDPH on a presentation about African American and Latinx gender-diverse communities and sexual wellness.
Congratulations to these inspiring youth!
