ABSTRACT: Health care delivery is subject to entropy, and health care delivery organizations must engage in quality improvement (QI) efforts in order to ensure reliable, efficient, safe patient care. The role of QI in maintaining wellfunctioning health care delivery has been noted broadly in the medical literature. As the health care system moves toward reimbursing value over volume, continuous QI becomes increasingly critical to the viability of health care businesses.
