Mattie Lastovica MD
Mattie Lastovica, MD is an affiliate trainee at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and a developmental and behavioral pediatrics fellow at CHOP.
For as long as she can remember, Dr. Lastovica has been interested in working with and advocating for children, especially those with disabilities and from underserved and vulnerable communities. Her current research project aims to improve access to primary care for autistic patients and their families. She has also been involved in a collaborative project with the Education Law Center of Pennsylvania working to address preschool pushout, which includes expulsion, suspension, and exclusion, for young children with disabilities.
She is currently participating in the Build Leadership OppOrtunities in Medicine for Health Equity (BLOOM) program at the University of Pennsylvania and completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program at CHOP.
Dr. Lastovica is dedicated to working to improve the lives of children and hopes to continue to participate in research that informs policy, advocacy, and clinical work throughout her career. Originally from a small town in Texas called Fredericksburg, she received her B.S. in Child Development from Vanderbilt University. She attended medical school on the Texas-Mexico border at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine and completed pediatrics residency at the University of Texas Southwestern/Children’s Health Dallas.
