Elizabeth Sanseau, MD, MS, DTM&H, FAAP, is a faculty member at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), an attending physician in pediatric emergency medicine at CHOP, an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, and the inaugural medical director of CHOP’s Indigenous Health Unit. Her research focuses on improving pediatric emergency readiness and access to high-quality emergency care, particularly for children in rural, resource-limited, and American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Dr. Sanseau’s work applies implementation science, simulation, and community-partnered approaches to strengthen health systems and translate evidence into sustainable improvements in pediatric emergency care. She co-leads the Indian Health Service Emergency Medical Services for Children Hybrid Simulation Program, a national partnership supporting pediatric readiness across IHS and Tribal emergency departments. Her broader research examines how local context, partnerships, and implementation strategies can support adoption and sustainment of evidence-based pediatric readiness practices in community emergency departments.

Through CHOP’s Indigenous Health Unit, Dr. Sanseau also works to build long-term, reciprocal partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations and to advance Indigenous child health across research, education, clinical care, and community engagement.
