Betsy Salazar MD, MSHP
Betsy Salazar (she/her) is a faculty member at PolicyLab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) as well as a health services researcher and neonatologist at CHOP and the University of Pennsylvania in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Her research focuses on how both hospital and individual-level finances influence perinatal health outcomes.
At the hospital-level, Dr. Salazar studies how hospital ownership, financial health and strain influence perinatal health outcomes. At the individual-level, she is interested in exploring how financial interventions such as cash transfers impact perinatal outcomes. As a parent of two late preterm infants, she also has a special interest in how these factors influence the outcomes of the late preterm population in the hospital and beyond.
Dr. Salazar received her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and has a Master in Health Policy Research. She was a pediatric resident, chief resident and fellow at CHOP.
