Abbie Whitney MD
Abbie Whitney, MD, is an affiliate trainee at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She is also a neonatology fellow at CHOP and a member of the 2026–2028 cohort of the National Clinician Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania. She is also completing a Master of Science in Health Policy Research.
Dr. Whitney is passionate about improving care for infants and families, with a particular interest in health equity, health policy, and how differences between hospitals can shape the care that patients receive. Her research has focused on care for infants born at the limits of viability, including how maternal and hospital characteristics are associated with decisions to provide intensive resuscitation. She hopes to better understand the factors that drive variation in neonatal care and identify opportunities to make care more equitable for infants and their families.
Dr. Whitney is originally from Minnesota. She completed medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her pediatrics residency and chief residency at Lurie Children's in Chicago before coming to CHOP for neonatology fellowship.
