Advancing Intergenerational Mobility Through Early Childhood Economic Security: Examining the Evidence

State lawmakers have the opportunity to shape children's health and well-being by expanding or enacting policies that promote families' economic security. These policies can have a particularly significant impact on children's health, education and economic outcomes if they are targeted at families during pregnancy and early childhood. 

In this brief, we review the evidence behind ten policy areas that enhance early childhood economic security and promote intergenerational economic mobility. We focus on areas that are ripe for action in Pennsylvania, and also provide insights for other states.
