Multilingual Research Strategies to Enhance Equity

To create equitable programs and policies, the perspectives of populations who prefer a non-English language must be prioritized. However, guidelines are scarce for conducting language-inclusive clinical research, and limited transparency exists among multilingual studies about the approaches used to enhance inclusion. The Socially Equitable Care by Understanding Resource Engagement (SECURE) study, a mixed-methods pragmatic trial aimed at understanding how best to facilitate engagement with social resources from the pediatric health care setting, developed and adapted multilingual research strategies to achieve proportional representation of linguistically diverse participants.
