Through PolicyLab’s joint pilot grant program with Clinical Futures, we get to review exciting proposals for research studies aimed at answering cutting edge clinical questions, developing or informing clinical programs, or influencing practice and policy for children and families in our community. PolicyLab has proudly funded five innovative projects thus far, looking at issues concerning the Philadelphia Beverage Tax, teen contraceptive access, sanctuary immigration policies and more.

I’m excited to announce our newest round of Clinical Futures and PolicyLab pilot grant funding awardees:

• Kate Wallis, MD, MPH, Katherine Kellom, Priscilla Ortiz, PhD, CMI — “Experiences in Telemedicine for Children with Suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics During the COVID-19 Pandemic”
• Fairuz Mohammed, MPH, Daniel Corwin, MD, MSCE, Christina Master, MD, Kristy Arbogast, PhD — “Investigating Disparities in Pediatric Concussion Care”   
• Deanna Marshall, MPH, Xi Wang, PhD, Diana Montoya-Williams, MD, Meredith Matone, DrPH, MHS — “Investigating Disparities in Prenatal Care Access and Outcomes during the COVID-19 Pandemic among Immigrant Mothers in Pennsylvania”
• Andrew Kern-Goldberger, MD, Jeffrey Gerber, MD, PhD, MSCE, Christopher Bonafide, MD, MSCE, Yun Li, PhD — “Predictors and Patterns of Subspecialty Consultation Practices Among Pediatric Hospitalist Physicians”
