Danielle Sands is a clinical research project manager at PolicyLab and Clinical Futures at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She is currently working alongside Dr. Danielle Erkoboni in the Literacy Lab on various projects related to early learning and literacy through parent-child interactions. These projects aim to better understand how reading, playful learning, and screen time impact children’s cognitive development, and how to best support parents in promoting their children’s early learning.     

Previously, she coordinated a handful of projects at PolicyLab, such as a health coaching intervention aimed at improving contraception continuation among adolescent women, a digital literacy promotion study that evaluates the effectiveness of digital versus standard literacy promotion, and an intervention examining dialogic behaviors and reading comprehension in infants when comparing the use of standard board books with digital e-books.

Prior to working at PolicyLab, she worked at the Eating Disorder Assessment and Treatment Program in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at CHOP on various research projects assessing therapeutic strategies, working directly with patients suffering from anorexia nervosa and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder. 

Preceding CHOP, Mrs. Sands worked at Einstein Healthcare Network as a project coordinator for the prenatal health education program, CenteringPregnancy, promoting patient-centered care and improved birth outcomes for low-income women in Norristown, PA.

Mrs. Sands received her Master in Public Health from La Salle University and her Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health from The Pennsylvania State University.
