Community health workers can support the health of children and families, with research showing particular impact among caregivers of children with chronic conditions, children in immigrant families and children at risk for developmental delays. More research is needed to understand best practices for CHW programs in pediatrics and policies are needed to grow and sustain the workforce.

In this PolicyLab issue brief, the authors summarize existing research from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and beyond, identify a research agenda for further exploration, and review policy and payment reforms that could support sustainability.
