Nicole Miller
Nicole Miller is a clinical research assistant at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Nicole began working with Dr. Danielle Erkoboni’s Literacy Lab research team as an undergraduate student researcher before transitioning to her current role. She assists with various Literacy Lab projects that involve partnering with parents, providers, and community members to better understand and promote childhood development, learning, and literacy, including SPEAK (Survey of Parent/Provider Expectations and Knowledge).
Nicole graduated from the University of Richmond in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in leadership studies through the Science Leadership Scholars Program, during which she developed an interest in studying health equity through integrated perspectives and responding to the needs of local communities and national landscapes. Prior research experience studying health literacy at Fox Chase Cancer Center helped Nicole to refine her interest in the intersection between literacy, education and health outcomes in diverse patient populations, thus leading her to the Literacy Lab.
Nicole hopes to attend medical school in the future and one day provide clinical care for Philadelphia’s pediatric patients alongside continued participation in equity-focused research and policy initiatives.
