Luis Seija MD

Affiliate Trainee

Luis E. Seija is an affiliate trainee at PolicyLab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a postdoctoral fellow in the National Clinician Scholars Program at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and CHOP.

Dr. Seija’s research interests include solid organ transplant ethics and policy as well as voting and policing as social determinants of health, among others. He is a clinician educator, practicing as an attending general medicine and pediatrics hospitalist.

Active in organized medicine, he creates spaces that look beyond performative advocacy to determine sustainable policy solutions that embed antiracism, advance justice, and operationalize equity from within and across medicine. 

Dr. Seija is a native of Austin, Texas, and a proud Texan, earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his MD from Texas A&M University School of Medicine. He completed a Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he also served as chief resident.
