Julia Choe-Castillo MSW, MPH, LSW

Social Worker

Julia (Jules) Choe-Castillo (she/her) is a social worker at PolicyLab and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She works in the ETUDES (Enhancing Treatment and Utilization for Depression and Emergent Suicidality) Center led by Dr. Jami Young.

Ms. Choe-Castillo has spent over twenty years in public health programming and social science research. During that time, she directed and supported programs in school health, adolescent and reproductive health, and behavioral health in NYC and San Francisco. Most recently, she provided direct, evidence-based therapeutic behavioral health support to Philadelphia public middle school students and patients in CHOP's Healthy Minds, Health Kids program, an integrated behavioral health program in primary care.

Ms. Choe-Castillo received a master’s degree in clinical social work from Temple University and a master’s degree in public health (population & family health) from Columbia University. She is working toward her clinical social work license, aiming to provide behavioral health therapy to children and families. Her clinical and research interests include health equity, standardization of cultural proficiency and humility in behavioral health care, evidence-based behavioral health prevention and treatment, and behavioral health care integration in community and medical settings.
