PolicyLab responded to a request for information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regarding the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on “Public Charge Ground of Inadmissibility."

In this response, PolicyLab experts describe harms that resulted from the 2019 public charge rule and provide recommendations to ensure that public charge determinations are conducted in a way that will not adversely harm immigrant children and their families in particular.
