Affiliate Trainee

Marita Cooper is an affiliate trainee at PolicyLab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a postdoctoral fellow with the Eating Disorders Assessment and Treatment Program at CHOP. Dr Cooper's research focuses on eating disorders, including presentations in under-researched groups, improving diagnosis/classification of eating disorders, and dysfunctional exercise.

Dr. Cooper was an Eating Disorders Clinical Research Summer fellow at Harvard University where she studied muscle dysmorphia and its relationship to eating disorder psychopathology. She is an author of the Safe Exercise at Every Stage guideline, supporting healthy return to exercise for those with an eating disorder, and has presented research on dysfunctional exercise, muscularity-oriented disordered eating, and medical complications of anorexia nervosa at conferences for the Academy for Eating Disorders, Eating Disorders Research Society, and the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders. Dr. Cooper received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Australian National University and recently completed a clinical research postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
