Crystal Anokam is a clinical research assistant at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She works with Dr. Marsha Gerdes on several research studies related to positive behavior supports and equity for children in child care centers across Philadelphia.
Ms. Anokam has previous research experience within adolescent health working under Dr. Aletha Akers on her “ParentsAreTalking” website, an online tool that seeks to improve communication between parents/caregivers and adolescents about sex and educate families about teens’ need for reproductive health. Her role included data analysis and website analytics, social media management, content marketing, and game content development. As an undergraduate student, she interned at ArtWell Philly, a non-profit that supports inner-city young people using arts to unpack trauma and complex challenges, supporting through program documentation and facilitating programs within the classrooms.
Ms. Anokam received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Temple University. Her professional focus is on fusing her love for public health and visual arts in order to cross-borders and bridge people and communities together to inspire change.
